Whales Whales Whales
Each year, at Laguna San Ignacio in Baja California, a population of
California Grey Whales returns to mate and raise their young in
preparation for their Spring migration north. One can stand on
shore and see non-stop spy-hops, breaches, and other activity.
Those who venture onto the water in a closely-regulated outing have the
chance of very close interaction with these gentle giants of the deep.
This area has been designated a world heritage site and was rescued
from an effort to turn it into the world's largest salt factory only a
few years ago.
We have been fortunate enough to visit this site twice on NRDC tours with Baja Discovery. Below
